Out of surgery
This is Cassie's Mom, after trying to connect to the internet unsuccessfully several times in her room, we have decided that Cassie will dictate to me and I'll try to keep you updated by taking the computer elsewhere in the building where there is a strong enough signal. Cassie's surgery took 5 1/2 hours this time, and Dr. Mayo said it went very well. He did find a cyst in the joint, in the same place as the left one...a matching set! He said that was kind of strange. She woke up in a lot of pain and Dr. Mayo said it took some time to get it under control, fortunately she did not remember much of that! She was out of recovery just 1 1/2 hours later and after a breathing treatment; into a room by 9:30, a little nauseas, and with a very dry throat. She kicked me out a little after midnight, and I took a cab to the hotel, since my carriage had turned back into a pumpkin. During the night they did a Doppler test because they were not detecting a pulse in her right leg, but they ruled out a blood clot and the pulse was detectable this morning, but weak. The epidural worked very well for her ...again both legs were blocked, so they may remove it tomorrow. Overall she is doing well, her blood count was low, so they will be giving her two units of blood this morning, and that should help her feel a little better as well. I will let you know how the day goes, I am relaying all your messages, she is so appreciative of all of you! Sharon

Bummer about your matching cyst, but you're so young, you might be able to get rid of it. I've read some studies where a restructured joint that no longer puts abnormal pressure on the cartilage will repair itself.
Keep up a positive spirit and take it one day at a time. Pretty soon, you'll be back in Bodyjam with two good hips and no pain!
